Terms of Service

Welcome to GCSESpark. These Terms govern your use of our service. By using the site or app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use GCSESpark.

1. Who we support

GCSESpark is designed for UK GCSE learners (Years 10-11). Users under 18 should involve a parent/guardian. If a school or parent provisions access, they are responsible for supervision and obtaining any necessary consents.

See also our Safeguarding & Child Safety, Schools & Institutions, and Accessibility Statement.

2. Accounts & access

  • Use accurate information and keep your sign-in email secure.
  • You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • We may suspend or end access for misuse, fraud, or security reasons.
  • Do not share accounts; you must have permission to use a parent/guardian email if you supply it.

3. Acceptable use

  • No harassment, abuse, or discriminatory content.
  • No attempts to bypass security, copy or resell the service, or misuse AI outputs.
  • Do not upload harmful code or unlawful content.
  • Do not use AI outputs for cheating or misrepresentation; follow your school's academic integrity rules.
  • See our Acceptable Use Policy for details.

4. Educational guidance

GCSESpark provides learning support and does not replace teachers, schools, or professional advice. Always follow guidance from your school and exam board.

5. Privacy & data

We handle data as described in our Privacy Notice andCookie Policy. We do not sell personal data. You can request access or deletion where applicable. Do not share sensitive personal data unless necessary for the service.

6. Third-party services & integrations

GCSESpark relies on trusted third-party providers for core functionality such as hosting, authentication, payments, and AI processing. We only share data with providers as needed to operate, secure, and improve the service, as described in our Privacy Notice.

If we offer optional integrations (for example, exporting content to a third-party platform), your use of that integration may also be subject to the third party's terms and policies.

7. Content and IP

We own the platform content and branding. You receive a personal, non-transferable licence to use GCSESpark. User-provided content remains yours; you grant us a licence to use it as needed to provide, secure, and improve the service. Do not upload material you lack rights to use.

AI-generated outputs are provided to support learning. Outputs may not be unique, may include errors, and should not be treated as authoritative.

8. Service changes

We may update features, content, or availability. We may discontinue or limit parts of the service with notice where reasonable. If we make material changes to these Terms, we will try to provide notice via the site or by email.

9. AI outputs & academic integrity

AI-generated responses may be incomplete or inaccurate. Always verify with trusted sources and your teachers. Do not submit AI outputs as your own assessed work.

You are responsible for how you use GCSESpark and for reviewing and verifying any outputs before relying on them.

For more detail, see AI Transparency.

10. Disclaimers

GCSESpark is provided “as is” without warranties to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee specific academic outcomes or uninterrupted availability.

11. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability to you is limited to direct losses and capped at the greater of (a) the amounts you paid to us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) £100. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Mandatory consumer rights are not excluded.

12. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose security/abuse risks.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by UK law. Courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
